Borton Elementary and Drachman K-8 were named Top Magnet Schools of Excellence; Mansfeld Middle was named a Merit School of Excellence; and Carrillo K-5, Holladay Elementary, Dodge Middle and Roskruge K-8 were named Merit Schools of Distinction.

The awards recognize Magnet schools that demonstrate an exemplary commitment to academic standards, curriculum innovation, desegregation/diversity, specialized teaching staff and parent/community involvement.
Academic Standards
"Our success in receiving the Merit School of Excellence award is due to our innovative STEM+ programming...and unique STEM-focused 5th core classes further enhance our offerings."
-Bryce Fiero, Magnet Coordinator (Mansfeld STEM Plus Middle Magnet School)
Curriculum Innovation
"The strength of Borton's Magnet theme of Project-Based Learning (PBL) and Systems Thinking played a key role in receiving the Top Magnet School of Excellence award...Our Borton Environmental Learning Lab, a 2.5-acre desert habitat, serves as a living classroom, supporting hands-on, inquiry-based exploration. These integrated learning experiences empower students to think critically, collaborate, and apply their knowledge in real-world contexts, reflecting the essence of our magnet theme and contributing to our school's success."
-Sara Stewart, Magnet Coordinator (Borton Elementary Magnet School)
"Families appreciate the hands-on learning and the opportunity for students to build independence and leadership skills in our Montessori environments. Furthermore, they are attracted to our GATE Cluster, ecology, music, and athletic programs."
-Wendy Weeks, Magnet Coordinator (Drachman Montessori K-8 Magnet School)
Desegregation/Diversity
"Our teachers are intentional in delivering a culturally responsive curriculum that reflects the rich multicultural fabric of our community. Rooted in the Mexican American experience, we also infuse instruction with diverse cultural perspectives, creating a well-rounded and inclusive learning environment.
-Aide Silva Cereceres, Magnet Coordinator (Roskruge Bilingual K-8)
Specialized Teachers
"We live by the motto 'Where the Arts Come Alive!' because we believe classrooms should be vibrant, dynamic spaces. We accomplish this by providing targeted professional development so that we equip our teachers with the tools they need to close academic and performance gaps, ensuring equitable opportunities for all of our artists."
-Sarah Barker, Magnet Coordinator (Holladay Fine Arts Magnet Elementary School)
Parent/Community Involvement
"At Carrillo, we have built a warm, supportive community that feels like family. This sense of belonging is strengthened through family events such as grade-level showcases, musicals, curriculum nights, and other family-oriented gatherings celebrating our students' growth and achievements."
-Rebeca Stroup, Magnet Coordinator (Carrillo K-5 Communication and Creative Arts Magnet School)
Congratulations to all of our recognized Magnet schools!
