Mark Wood and Student Musicians Electrify Audience at EYS Concert

On January 28, middle school students from Booth-Fickett, Gridley, Magee, Miles and Secrist joined Sabino High School students in an electrifying performance led by violinist Mark Wood (a founding member of Trans-Siberian Orchestra), and vocalist Laura Kaye.

Wood's Electrify Your Symphony program has traveled to schools across the U.S. over the last 25 years. Students participate in a two-day immersive workshop, culminating in a rock orchestra concert. The experience is aimed at boosting students' self-esteem and raising money for music education. Students develop musical awareness and improvisational skills while performing contemporary and diverse music.

Mark Wood and Laura Kaye are actually Tucson residents, so this performance at Sabino was especially meaningful, as they are passionate about serving and supporting music students and teachers in the community.
