Vito Peppitoni, Exceptional Education’s new Assistant Director for Region 1, is the recipient of the Secondary Transition Services Educator Award, presented at the AZ Department of Education IDEA Conference in August 2023.
Vito was recognized for his work in the Sunnyside Unified School District as a Transition Program Coordinator. The Transition from School to Work (TSW) program started in Sunnyside in 2018 with 15 students. Five years later the program expanded to include 160 students and the transition team grew to 21 team members who provided transition services to students in grades 8 to 12. Under Vito’s leadership, Sunnyside’s Post School Outcomes (PSO) engagement rate improved from 51% to 81%.
