Timeline and Steps for Enrollment in Title I (Inclusive) Preschool Programs

Please note that while this process may take time, we are here to help throughout the process and are committed to supporting you every step of the way.

  1. Complete and Submit Forms:
    • Fill out the Preschool Application referred to as the interest form found on the department website.
    • Keep in mind that the application includes a list of questions to assess your child's academic, social, and emotional development.
    • Apply Online (tusd1.org/preschool-inclusive-interest)
    • Office staff download the application Monday, Wednesday and Friday, to score and upload to the database.
  2. Placement Contact:
    • A preschool department staff member will contact you when a placement is available at one of your requested sites or your neighborhood school.
    • The preschool department will attempt to contact you three times.
    • If you do not respond after the third attempt, your child will be placed back on the waitlist, and another child will be selected.
  3. Have the paperwork ready:
    • A list of required paperwork is listed on the preschool application.
      • Listed are the required documents for enrollment:
        1. Pay Stubs for every parent/guardian working in the household.
        2. 1040 tax form to verify household size.
        3. Any public assistance awarded letters.
        4. Child's Birth Certificate.
    • Preschool office staff members may also help you over the phone or email a list of the paperwork needed for scholarships or registration.
  4. Accept or Decline Placement:
    • When contacted, you will be given the name of the school, teacher, and session for your child.
    • You can accept or decline the placement.
    • If you decline and prefer a different site, your child will either be placed at the requested site or go back on the waitlist for that site, if space is not available.
  5. Registration Information:
    • If you accept the placement, you will receive information on the documents needed for registration at the school’s front office.
    • Do not go to the school to register until you have received a placement offer from a TUSD Preschool Department staff member.
    • School office staff will be providing a ParentVue registration code to complete the process online.
  6. Orientation and Small Group Sessions:
    • After enrolling, your child’s teacher will contact you to schedule orientation and small group sessions.
    • Your child will start their regular session after attending these sessions.
  7. Mid-Year Enrollment:
    • For children starting mid-year, schedule a meeting with the classroom teacher before their first session.
    • This meeting helps complete orientation and allows the teacher to prepare materials for your child’s first day.
