Spearheaded by the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusiveness Department, Tucson Unified is proud to announce its strategic partnership with Paper, an on-demand academic support platform, to provide unparalleled academic support to students at Sabino High School and select students from HEART Cares, and Asian Pacific and Refugee Student Services.
“Choosing to partner with Paper has proven to be the optimal decision for TUSD’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusiveness (EDI) department,” Assistant Superintendent of EDI Kinasha Brown said. “Among its top priorities is delivering academic and social-emotional support to unleash the full potential of every learner in the district. The availability of quality high-dosage tutoring anytime, anywhere is set to be a transformative game-changer for our students.”
With Paper’s Education Support System (ESS), students can now benefit from on-demand, 24/7, and multilingual homework help, study support, and writing feedback provided by professional tutors – all at no cost to families.
The program was soft-launched at pilot school Sabino High School in December, with teachers and students being trained on the new platform. Since returning from winter break, Sabino High School is fully embracing the tutoring platform.
According to Sabino High School Principal Kevin Amidan, his school is comprised of 75% open enrollment students, and 65% of students participate in an extracurricular activity.
“Our students travel from all areas of our county, thus limiting their time allotment for tutoring and study time,” Amidan said. “Paper has given our students the option to seek support 24/7, which will lead to improved student achievement and growth due to their deeper understanding of the content and ability to build on their foundational knowledge.”
The platform uses live tutors (no robots or AI-generated content) and offers an array of academic support tools to enhance student learning.
Through the review center, expert writing tutors offer constructive feedback on various writing assignments, including lab reports, essays, short-answer questions, college applications, resumes, and more.
Students can also work on their career and college readiness. With MajorClarity by Paper, students can explore diverse careers, prepare for their futures, research academic institutions, and more. It’s an all-encompassing tool, ensuring every student is poised for success in higher education, the military, professional certifications, or the workforce.
There are also Paper Missions and Paper Reading. Paper Missions are interactive missions that allow students to refine their math and vocabulary skills at their own pace, ensuring they assimilate new knowledge while building self assurance. Paper Reading is a tool that listens to students as they read aloud, offering immediate and actionable feedback along with progress monitoring.
“Having this unlimited access to support on classroom content and standardized test prep that can be done around travel time and extracurricular involvement will help assist our students in reaching their highest potential,” Amidan added.
