Deadline: When you are requesting information, please include your deadline, so we can work to meet that. If possible, we would like to have at least 24 hours notice on a request for information, but we understand that with breaking news, that is not always possible.

FOIA: For a Freedom of Information Act Request (FOIA), please use the Request Public Documents form and email to Public Records.
Coverage Requests: If you would like to cover an event or interview principals or teachers, please email Karla or Media to cover district events in advance.
Education Research: If you are interested in conducting research in Tucson Unified School District, please contact our Assessment and Program Evaluation Department.
Media and Children: The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) dictates how the District handles certain information about children. All children who are photographed or filmed on school property must have parental permission on file. Please contact the Communications Department ahead of time to ensure the children you wish to film or interview are cleared.

All Tucson Unified School District Social Media pages highlights the wonderful happenings in our district. It also serves as platform to inform our audiences of upcoming events and important district information from our superintendent and governing board.
You are encouraged to submit comments, questions and concerns but please note this is a moderated online discussion site and not a public forum. We welcome your thoughts and dialogue, but expect all users to maintain civility and respect when posting.
Once posted, Tucson Unified reserves the right to delete submissions that contain vulgar language, personal attacks of any kind, or offensive comments that target or disparage any ethnic, racial, or religious group.
Further, the District also reserves the right to delete comments that:
- contain spam, advertising, solicitations or include links to other sites;
- are clearly off topic, and/or disruptive;
- are obscene, vulgar or sexually explicit. This includes masked words (***), acronyms and abbreviations;
- are chain letters, pyramid schemes or fraudulent or deceptive messages;
- promote particular services, products, or political organizations or campaigns;
- infringe on copyrights or trademarks;
- advocate illegal activity;
- violate any Tucson Unified School District policies.

Distribution/Display of Promotional Materials from Outside Organizations
Follow these guidelines for your non-profit organization for distribution at TUSD schools.
- Include this disclaimer on your flyer (8.5x11) font size should be no smaller than the smallest size font on flyer.
The Tucson Unified School District neither endorses nor sponsors the organization or activity represented in this material. The distribution or display of this material is provided as a community service.
You may include the disclaimer in other languages. Spanish translation:
El Distrito Escolar Unificado de Tucsón no respalda ni promueve la organización o actividad representada en este material. La distribución o contenido de este material es proporcionado como un servicio comunitario.
- Include an email or phone number on the flyer for parent contact if they have questions.
- If there is an application that needs to be submitted, include the website link or address and zip code on the flyer and the application. Parents will send the application to the organization.
- Submit your flyer via email. Please give 2 business days for a response to your request for approval.
- Upon meeting requirements, you will receive an email to confirm approval. Use this as confirmation of approval.
- The organization will distribute the flyer to the appropriate TUSD schools so share with their community. TUSD typically does not share community flyers.

email us.Your child’s directory information will be released or their image and voice may be used in the media as follows, unless you select specific options during registration. Please read details below carefully to opt-out.
Directory Information
The District may disclose information that is generally not considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if the primary purpose is to allow the District to include this type of information in certain school publications, such as yearbooks, newsletters, playbills, team rosters, or honor rolls. Directory information includes the following:
- name
- address
- telephone listing
- email address
- grade level
- date and place of birth
- major field of study
- enrollment status
- dates of attendance
- participation in officially recognized activities and sports
- weight and height if a member of an athletic team
- most recently attended educational institution
The District will not disclose directory information unless the District or school will use the information in a publication, or a third party has requested the information for a reason that, in the judgment of the District, serves the student’s best interests. For example, the District will comply with directory information requests from another school in which a student seeks to enroll, universities and colleges, law enforcement and Child Protective Services. The District will provide directory information for commercial purposes only if beneficial to students, such as yearbook or class ring sales.
Your child’s directory information will be released as described above, unless you direct otherwise by selecting the following options in the registration process:
Option 1) DO NOT RELEASE MY CHILD’S DIRECTORY INFORMATION. By selecting this option, I understand that my child’s name and/or image will not be included in the yearbook, newsletters, programs, and other school and district publications.
Option 2) DO NOT RELEASE MY CHILD’S DIRECTORY INFORMATION FOR NON TUSD PURPOSES. By selecting this option, I understand that my child’s name and/or image will not be released to the press or the general public, or to third parties such as universities and colleges, employers and military recruiters.
District and News Media
Your child may be interviewed, photographed, or audio‐ or video‐recorded by the news media or district staff for print, radio, television, Internet content or any other medium, unless you direct otherwise.
