Rincon emphasizes global thinking, problem-solving and academic writing. Our rigorous academic standards and wide variety of classes prepare students for the future. Teachers and administrators develop an "educational family" of instructors, classmates and tutors for each Rincon Ranger to provide support throughout the high school experience.

Sharing a campus and extracurricular programs with University High School, Rincon is also home to the award-winning Rincon University High School Band.

Alissa Welch

Alissa Welch is originally from Montana. She moved to Tucson after high school to attend the University of Arizona and has been here ever since. Right after graduating from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s Degree in English, she started her career in education as an English teacher and coach. Quickly solidifying her love for being an educator and working with teenagers, she went back to school to obtain a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Chapman University. Ms. Welch has served in a variety of capacities as a teacher, coach, curriculum specialist, dean of students, athletic director, assistant principal, and principal. She has been working as an educator in Tucson for 23 years. Ms. Welch has had the opportunity to work with a variety of students throughout her career at BASIS, Cienega High School, Sunnyside High School and her professed favorite, Rincon!  

When Ms. Welch is not at Rincon, she enjoys sports, music, movies, the theater, and spending time with her family.
