Lawrence 3-8 School at a Glance

Lawrence Logo
Lawrence is the only 3-8 school in Tucson Unified. Our focus is the overall well-being of every student to ensure they find success in and out of the classroom.

Our students follow a traditional elementary schedule, and traditional middle school schedule with six periods. This allows both levels to have electives that include music, art, PE and tech. Our goal is to have each student reach their highest level of academic potential in the classroom, through both direct support using interventions and focused individual work using various platforms.

Zulema Stanbrook was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. The name Zulema means "peace" and is the female derivative of the word shalom. Zulema is a member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. Zulema works in the same school district she attended as a child. Zulema graduated from Cholla High School at the age of 16 and went on to attend both Pima Community College and the University of Arizona. After receiving her undergraduate degree, Zulema worked for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe as an In-School Counselor at a nearby middle school. This piqued Zulema's interest in education and eventually led to her career. She went on to become a Teacher, School Counselor, Learning Support Coordinator, Assistant Principal, and finally Principal. Zulema's 25-year career has led her to her current position, being a proud Principal at Lawrence 3-8 School. "I love this school. I love the students, families, and community," Zulema says.

Zulema is married to her husband who is a detective for the Tucson Police Department, and she has a 20-year-old stepson who is now in his second year in college at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

Zulema's is extremely proud to be working towards her goal of obtaining her Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership with an Emphasis in K-12 degree. Zulema is excited to get closer to her goal every day!
