Field Trips
Students at Drachman take several field and walking trips each year, paid for with Tax Credit donations to the school. Parents can often accompany their students on field trips for no extra charge.
Here are some places our classrooms have visited recently:
Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum
Tucson Botanical Gardens
Pima Air and Space Museum
Biosphere2
The University of Arizona’s Insect Discovery
, the Flandrau, and toured the
Wildcats
‘ various athletic facilities.
Tucson Federal Credit Union
Reid Park Zoo
Tohono Chul Park
Agua Caliente Park
Walking Trips Downtown
Because of our Downtown location, Drachman’s students are able to participate in unique walking trips and activities.
Drachman is within walking distance of the Tucson Convention Center, where our violin students attend a yearly Young People’s Concert by the
Tucson Symphony Orchestra
. Students from all classes also attend plays and science and technology expositions at the TCC.
Along the way, they stop at the La Pilita Museum and visit El Tiradito.
Our students also enjoy trips to annual events Downtown, such as the
Tucson Gem and Mineral Show
.
Drachman is located close to the
Children’s Museum Tucson
, the new Tucson Fire Department’s Headquarters and
Pima County Public Library
’s Main and Santa Rosa branches.
Our upper elementary students have gone on “history treasure hunts” along the
Presidio Trail’s Turquoise Line
, learning about Tucson and Arizona history. Students from several classes have also learned the art of glass making at
Sonoran Glass School
.
Other Fun Activities
Each year, students in the 2nd grade go to the Uptown
Optimist Club
’s annual Christmas Party and pick out toys for their fellow students in grades 1-3. They bring the gifts back to class for a holiday party.
