The Rest of the Story
Back on May 22, 2009, the Arizona Daily Star reported that "TUSD's Fagen adds 7 administrative jobs." The headline and the story give the impression that TUSD has increased its administrative positions and salaries for the 2009-2010 school year.
But that's not even part of the story.
Here's the whole story:
- The district has reduced its executive team budget by 30.9% for the 2009-2010 school year.
- Including the reduction in central support staff, the district has reduced the total budget for the executive team level by 46%.
- The district has eliminated four administrative positions from the executive team for the 2009-2010 school year.
- The district has reduced the budget for administrative directors by $10,181 for the 2009-2010 school year.
- The district has fewer central administrative positions, and fewer central support staff positions, during the 2009-2010 school year.
