Voters who reside in the Tucson Unified School District but outside of the Tucson city limits will find a printing error on their ballots for the November 3rd election. The Pima County Recorder's Office sent ballots instructing recipients to "Vote on Both Sides of the Ballot." But when they flip the ballot over, those individuals will be faced with a blank page. The page was left blank intentionally, but lacks the standard language indicating as much. The County Recorder's office discovered the printing error on the ballots, which are produced by the Division of Elections. Recorder's Office officials have assured that despite the printing error, the ballots will still be valid, and the remaining information on the front side of the ballot is correct.
For TUSD voters who reside within the city limits, the instruction will make more sense. On the reverse side of their ballots will be the two questions for the TUSD special election: Propositions 401 and 402. Prop 401 seeks an override of TUSD's Maintenance and Operations budget. It would generate money to fund full day kindergarten, improve classroom technology, and provide an additional $150 to $190 per student to TUSD schools. Prop 402 seeks funds for use in improving TUSD's technology infrastructure district-wide. TUSD voters who reside outside of the city limits will still be able to vote on the two TUSD override questions, which appear on the front side of their ballots.
The following precincts have been identified as being impacted by the printing error:
