On Saturday, November 7, the University of Arizona is hosting the 7th Annual Junior Scientists Kids' Day (JSKD) at the UA Science-Engineering Library. TUSD's Career and Technical Educational programs have united with several of the local schools in the TUSD area to educate the young children on the importance of science.

Planning for JSKD has been underway for a few months now. Teachers from several schools, including Palo Verde's marketing teacher, Mona Rutherford, and business teacher, Christine Snodgrass, will be participating in the JSKD event.

The event is schedule to be held during the UA homecoming. The main purpose of JSKD is to educate and inspire young children to become involved in science. JSKD is also designed to generate excitement about general science and engineering concepts.

JSKD is mainly for grade K-12; however, it's a family event and offers attractions for everyone.

TUSD will host several tables to inform the public about Career & Technical Education. Each stand will consist of activities for the children to engage in while learning about that particular field.

Teachers from Sahuaro, Catalina, Sabino, Pueblo, Tucson, Santa Rita, Rincon, and Palo Verde will participate in the booth activities. There are booths for marketing, nursing, culinary arts and several other science- and engineering-related subjects.

The Jazz Ensemble from Utterback Middle Magnet School of the Arts will perform before the doors open at 9:30 a.m. JSKD activities begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 1 p.m.
