At its regular meeting on July 8, the Governing Board voted 4-1 to approve a $361.7 million Maintenance and Operations budget for the 2008-2009 school year. Board member Judy Burns voted against the proposed budget, citing "rash decisions" that were not good for children, such as dual-school principals. The District's total budget for the coming year, including all sources of income such as state and federal grants, gifts and donations, tax credits, etc., totals more than $578.2 million.

TUSD Partners with Kaplan Virtual Education to Launch Agave Distance Learning - Posted 08-18-08
Kaplan Virtual Education and the Tucson Unified School District today announced that they have partnered to launch AGAVE Distance Learning, a virtual public school that will serve high school students throughout Pima County starting this fall. AGAVE, a tuition-free public school, will offer students a variety of courses supported by flexible scheduling, individualized instruction and relevant, engaging curriculum.

TUSD First Day of Classes - Posted 08/12/08
When classes began on Monday in the Tucson Unified School District, new Superintendent Elizabeth Celania-Fagen was on hand to greet students and teachers in the classrooms of five of the district's 105 schools.
