Instruction in Sex Education

Grades K – 12:

  • Instruction in sex education shall be offered in the District in conformity with the requirements of Arizona Guidelines for Sex Education.
  • TUSD School Board shall approve any major conceptual changes to the existing and approved Family Life Education curriculum conforming to the Arizona Guidelines for Sex Education.
  • Prior to providing instruction in sex education, teachers shall receive training provided by the District.

Certification of Compliance
The current TUSD Family Life Education Curriculum is certified by the State Board of Education in compliance with A.A.C. R7-2-303.

Instruction on Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome and Human Immunodeficiency Virus
The District may provide age appropriate instruction in kindergarten (K) through grade twelve (12) on acquired immune deficiency syndrome and the human immunodeficiency virus as authorized by Arizona law.

If instruction is to be offered at one (1) or more grade levels, the Superintendent shall develop and implement regulations on such instruction that conform to Arizona law.
