Step 1: Register online or by signing the Wellness Pledge.
Take your first step in being a healthier, happier person. Commit to your own health and the 2012 Viva Las Vegas Challenge.
Step 3: Start exercising and logging!
The idea is simple: 5 minutes of exercise (walking, running, jogging, swimming, biking, etc.) counts as "1 mile." Every 30 minutes of exercise is "6 miles". Every hour of exercise is "12 miles." This challenge is really about exercising a certain amount of time every day.
Remember every minute of focused exercise counts! For example, if you walk you dog for 15 minutes before work and walk a track at a school or park for 45 minutes after work, you've walked 60 minutes altogether for the day and finished "12 miles" on the Trek Arizona course.
Step 4: Enter your miles in the online log form (which will be available by Oct. 15.)
The school/department with the highest % of completed trekkers will win a free massage day!
If you have limited internet access, please send in your log book on or before December 1 via interoffice mail to: Benefits Department, Wellness Program, Attn: Andrea & Stephanie.
Step 5: Support for Trekkers
Use your log book to help keep track of the "miles" you've trekked. Celebrate each milestone destination with your fellow employees and support team.
If you've signed up for Viva Las Vegas, you will also receive weekly email updates. Updates will include local walking routes, fitness tips, nutritional tips and success stories.
Step 6: One-on-One Coaching
If you need additional support, email your health coaches at firstname.lastname@example.org. They are happy to provide free, one-on-one coaching to help you reach your wellness goals!
