Student Excellence
Students from Tucson High Magnet School were named National Champions at the MESA USA National Engineering Design Competition in Baltimore, Maryland in June 2008. This is the second year in a row that the Tucson High team has won the competition.

Staff Excellence
Qwest Foundation has awarded Borton Primary Magnet Schoola $7,907 grant that will pay for Learning Language Live, a portable computer lab with five laptops, a projector, microphones and digital cameras that will help students learning English. Students' daily technology use will help teachers accurately and frequently assess students, said Sheri Marlin, the Borton instructional coach. Students will create projects in programs such as Photo Story III, Movie Maker and Inspiration that teacher teams will review to monitor students' progress toward achieving state standards.

District Excellence
Peter Howell Library has received a $5000 grant to establish a reading garden in their courtyard. The school plans to complete it by May 1, 2008, and celebrate its opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
