While students across the nation staged walk-outs in response to the election results, students at Tucson High Magnet School held a "talk-out." We'll be presenting their voices and the voices of students from other schools in the coming weeks.
Dear Tucson Unified Team Member:
I am sending you this short message to ask that you reinforce the Tucson mantra of "BE KIND." The election has ended, but we are left with a mixture of joy and hurt in our country. We will see this on our campuses, as well. Be resolute and positive. Take extra time today and next week to reinforce acts of kindness and reaffirm all students as valued and cherished. It is, and has always been, our job as educators to identify the best in each child and adult. Let's not forget this. We should not shy away from the challenge of maintaining positivity amid the temptation to stay silent and hope negativity will fade.
H.T. Sánchez, Ed.D.
