TUSD PRIORITIES FOR 2001-2002
STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
- Focus all employees on the singular goal of improving
student achievement.
- Ensure each school meets or exceeds student achievement
objectives in instruction and curriculum as stated in the
school's MAP which is aligned to the BOLD!
Game measures.
- Implement fully the StAAR program in the 17 StAAR
schools.
- Continue to create ways to reduce class size.
PARENT/COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
- Evaluate and organize current parent/community
involvement structures and initiate improvements needed to
increase two-way communication.
- Invite and encourage parents to participate actively in
their children's education. Develop strategies to do so.
- Involve parents and community in relevant and meaningful
decision making throughout the district.
- Provide education for parents and community members.
SHARED DECISION MAKING
TEAM BUILDING AND COMMUNICATION
- Develop and implement a system by which to deliver
clear, timely, and consistent messages from the central
Leadership Team which includes a process for response and
collaboration.
RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
- Develop a plan for addressing facility needs.
- Study the potential for passing a bond and/or override
election and act accordingly.
- Continue to seek funding from private sources.
- Seek advice and involvement from the business community.
HUMAN RESOURCES AND EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Develop and implement a plan for on-going leadership
training for principals and other administrators.
- Implement a plan for maintaining and enriching the StAAR
training to meet our student achievement goals.
- Coordinate professional development and other
departmental resources to support student achievement
goals outlined in site MAPs.
SALARIES AND BENEFITS
- Identify and obtain affordable, quality health insurance
for all employees.
- Create and implement a fiscally responsible plan for
salary equity.
- Refine Proposition 301 implementation plan.
TEACHER RECRUITMENT
- Implement the plan for teacher recruitment, placement
and retention.
