Culturally Relevant Curriculum Available for Public Review

Tucson Unified School District has developed new curriculum for culturally relevant U.S. history courses. The proposed curriculum would be the foundation for 11th grade U.S. history classes taught from the perspectives of both African American and Mexican American cultures, as outlined in the district's Unitary Status Plan. The curriculum is also based on the Arizona Common Core State Standards and is designed to assist teachers in teaching those standards.

TUSD has invited the community to examine and comment on the proposed curriculum. Public comments will be reviewed and considered in finalizing the content before it is submitted to the Governing Board for approval.

The comment period ended on August 8.

Thank you for your participation.
