Budget Advisory Committee

Purpose

The purpose of the Tucson Unified Schools Budget Advisory Committee is to provide input and feedback to the Superintendent's Advisory Committee, improving awareness, understanding, knowledge and transparency of budgetary decision-making and fiscal efficacy. The Budget Advisory Committee is comprised of up to 28 people representing the broad stakeholder community, including parents, community members, students, school and district certified staff, and school and district classified staff. Advice from this committee will serve as a vehicle for public communication and education on budget restraints and opportunities in support of district strategic initiatives.

Applicants Needed

TUSD is currently looking for applicants in the following categories: students, community members, teachers, and administrators, and should have a vested interest in the success of Tucson Unified Schools. Applicants will understand that the success of TUSD is central to Tucson's community health and economic viability, and that all recommendations answer "yes" to the question, "Is it good for students?" A financial background is not necessary, but interest in financial accountability is important.

History

Fiscal year 2008-2009 was the Budget Advisory Committee's inaugural year. For the fiscal year 2009-2010 the Budget Advisory Committee will meet monthly.
