School Meals and Services - Summer Meals Program
The Summer Food Service Program is designed to offer children
nutritious meals during the summer vacation. This federally
sponsored program allows children 18 years and younger to
eat for free. To participate, the school where the meals are
served or the school from which the camp or center draws its
attendance has to have at least 50 percent of its enrollment
eligible for free or reduced-price meals under the National
School Lunch Program. We service the TUSD eligible schools
as well as off-site camps and recreation centers.
This program provides free breakfast and lunch meals to
children attending summer programs at qualifying school and
non-school sites. The meal service is also open to any child
living in the neighborhood who would like to participate even
if they are not registered in a summer program at that site.
Breakfast and lunch are served in cafeterias or designated
eating areas.
