About SCPC
  • What is School Community Partnership Council (SCPC)?
    The School Community Partnership Council (SCPC) is a volunteer organization of residents in the Tucson Unified School District, including parents, educators, and other community members, as individuals, who have joined together with the common goal of providing the children of our District with the highest quality education possible. To this end, the SCPC encourages and supports community involvement in a constructive fashion. As an advisory group in a partnership with the Governing Board, the SCPC provides a platform for all community members to have a voice in the education of our children.
  • How is the SCPC structured?
    SCPC is composed of one District Council consisting of representation from each school site including parents, students, and community members.
  • What are the duties of the District Council?
    • To provide a communication system between the local school community, the Superintendent of Schools, and the Governing Board.
    • To create unity of action and support which relate to the best interests of the children.
    • To develop better understanding between the school and the community with respect to matters relating to education.
    • To advise the Governing Board on matters relating to education issues.
    • To encourage active involvement of residents of Tucson Unified in the operation of their schools.
    • To engage the community in the creation of collaborative partnerships for the betterment of Tucson Unified.
  • What are the duties of School Representatives?
    • Attend monthly SCPC General meetings.
    • Report back to schools with SCPC information.
    • Bring school news to community groups and partners.
    • Occasionally respond to Governing Board inquiries.
