Q: If I have a work place injury and the doctor places me on Off Work status, does the district pay me?
A:
- If you are off work from 1-7 days: No. (You may use your available leave balances to generate pay during this period).
- If you are off work from 8-14 days: Yes, our Workers' Compensation insurance company The Alliance, not TUSD, will pay you at 66 2⁄3% of your average weekly paycheck for days 8-14. You may elect to use your sick, vacation or personal time to receive a total of 100% of your normal pay.
- If you are off work for 15 or more days: Yes, our Workers' Compensation insurance company The Alliance, not TUSD, will pay you at 66 2⁄3% of your average weekly paycheck retroactively for days 1-15 and any days beyond that. You may elect to use sick, vacation, or personal time to total 100% of your normal pay.
The Alliance, our Worker's Compensation insurance company will mail your check.
Summary: For the first 7 days, employees need to use accrued leave balances. After 7 days, balances can be used to add to the Worker's Compensation rate, making up to 100% of your normal pay.
