Leaves of Absence

On occasion employees need to take an approved leave of absence for different reasons. The District has a process in place to support those who need to take a leave. Employees may be eligible for a leave under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) or a Leave of Absence according to their employee agreement.

Employees: please find the Employee Leave of Absence Guidelines and the Employee Checklist for information regarding your leave of absence and the Leave of Absence form.

Supervisors, please find the Supervisor Reference Guide for an abbreviated leave processing overview. (Full instructions can be found in the District Operating Guide [DOG], available on the Intranet.)

Types of Leave:
  • Family and Medical Leaves
  • Short-term Leaves (for medical leave if not eligible for FMLA; see employee agreement.)
  • Governing Board-Approved Leaves (including course of study, travel, exchange teaching, and other categories. Certain conditions apply.)
